Science Rotations
Quarter 1- Prairie
Quarter 2- Solar System
Quarter 3- Electricity
Quarter 4- Bioms
Fourth Grade Science Objectives
Prairie - The student will be able to:
-Recognize living and nonliving things found in the grasslands ecosystem and
identify adaptations necessary for survival
-Identify grassland organisms as producers, consumers (herbivores, carnivores,
and omnivores), or decomposers.
-Diagram and explain a simple food chain beginning with the sun
-Create a model of a food web.
Electricity - The student will be able to:
-Construct and design simple circuits.
-Differentiate between a series and a parallel circuit.
-Classify different materials as conductors or nonconductors.
-Determine and assess the dangers of electricity.
Space – The student will be able to:
-Name and describe the parts of the solar system.
-Create a visual representation of the solar system showing relative distance and
size.
-Describe the motion of objects in the sky such as sun, moon, planets, and stars
-Recognize that the shape of the moon changes from day to day on a monthly
cycle
Ecosystems – The student will be able to:
-Recognize the difference between weather, climate, and seasons
-Describe adaptations made by plants or animals to survive
-Analyze the impact of both natural changes and human intervention on different
ecosystems
